Marketing: Day 2

Presentations:

  • IPOD: promotion -- huge success
  • ZUPAS: stamp cards but at a given time you can get them stamped…
  • Wii Marketing: -- to the middle age woman -- promotion, etc. Huge success

Class Lecture:

Marketing is about finding what your customer loves and using that.

  • 5 elements of any strategy
    • Target, Product, place, price, promotion

    Customer Driven Marketing Strategy

    • Production Concept
      • Sears catalog. This is the product. We're the only ones who have it.
    • Product Concept
      • Here's the product, here's the price.
    • Selling Concept
      • Sell, sell, sell,
      • Example would be the church almost.. We get out there and knock doors, etc.
      • Profits on this come from volume -- late-night ads, etc.
    • Marketing concept
      • The smart way to do things -- more customer driven.

    4 Ps of Marketing

    • Product: design, attributes, materials
    • Price: high, low, volume, bundle
    • Place: retail, web, professional sales
    • Promotion: advertising, personal selling, sales promotions, events, public relations, etc.
